Distinctives
A. The Centrality of the Gospel
All activities and messages of GFC have their source in the gospel of Christ, affirming that sinners are justified by faith alone, that the righteousness of Christ is imputed to believers by God's decree alone, that this righteousness is the only righteousness which justifies, and genuine faith is evidenced by works.
1 Corinthians 1:17-31; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; 2 Corinthians 4:1-6; Philippians 1:27; Revelation 14:6-7
B. Expository Preaching
We practice systematic exposition of the Word of God because we believe in the inerrancy and sufficiency of Scripture. This means we preach verse-by-verse through different sections of the Bible in order to faithfully proclaim ‘the whole council of God’ to his people. Preaching and teaching through books of the Bible will be the primary emphasis of this ministry.
Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Ezra 7:10; Nehemiah 8:1-12; Matthew 4:4; 1 Timothy 4:13; 2 Timothy 3:14-4:5; Titus 1:3, 9; Hebrews 4:12; 1 Peter 1:22-2:3
C. Christ Exalting Worship
Scripture calls us to engage in Christ exalting worship through praying, preaching, Scripture reading, singing, giving, and honoring and obeying God.
John 4:23-24; Romans 12:1-2; 1 Corinthians 14:15; Ephesians 5:18-20; Philippians 2:9-11; Colossians 3:16
D. Regenerate Membership/Biblical View of Conversion
We desire to see true conversion, wrought by the Holy Spirit, in the members of our church family. Right belief precedes right practice. While good works do not secure salvation they are its fruit. We constantly proclaim and explain the gospel, taking time with people struggling to understand what it means to follow Christ.
Romans 3:23; 5:8; 10:9-14; Ephesians 2:1-10; Matthew 7:21-23; Luke 6:46; 2 Corinthians 13:5
E. Elder Led
We practice congregational elder led church government. Congregational elder led church government is where there is no governing body above that of the local church. All of our decisions are made locally, and within this body of believers. We have a plurality of elders that give leadership and are responsible for leading and feeding the flock.
Titus 1:5-11; 1 Peter 5:1-5
F. Age Integration
We are an age-integrated church where we gather whole families, singles and all ages together for worship, teaching, prayer and evangelism.
Deuteronomy 6:7-9
